The temporary exhibition Michel Henricot: “Among Friends”, opening on 13 June (until 9 August 2026) at the Stanisław Szukalski Museum, will be a unique presentation of the work of Michel Henricot – one of the most enigmatic representatives of 20th-century European fantastic art. The exhibition will showcase the artist not only as an outstanding visionary painter but also as a participant in the extraordinary artistic circle centered around Leonor Fini and Konstanty Jeleński.
Alongside works by Michel Henricot, the exhibition will also feature artworks by members of his close artistic and social circle: Fabrizio Clerici, Enrico Colombotto Rosso, Leonor Fini, Jan Lebenstein, Stanislao Lepri, and Franciszek Starowieyski. Together, they formed an extraordinary international artistic milieu in which art, literature, and theatre intertwined with a fascination for dreams, symbolism, and metaphysics.
Henricot’s paintings—populated by mysterious figures, ruins, and translucent forms—exist in a realm suspended between dream and reality. His art, often compared by critics to the visionary worlds of Borges and Lovecraft, is distinguished by its extraordinary technique, luminous palette, and atmosphere of silence and contemplation.
The exhibition “Among Friends” tells a story of artistic relationships, shared imagination, and the spiritual kinship of creators who left behind some of the most original artistic visions of the twentieth century.
