Struggle – 1917

This sculpture (…) expresses the strugle between Quantity, the fingers, and the Quality, the thumb.Ta rzeźba (…) wyraża walkę między Ilością, palcami, a Jakością, kciukiem. It is not the fingers nor gods which make man survive, but the oposit thumbs. They are the makers of things, the builders, the creators of cultures and civilizations.

Here the four fingers of the hand attack the opposing thumb in mortal struggle. (…) The fingers (…) are not realising that when they tear the hand apart, their concerted attack is in reality suicidal (…).
