The Stanisław Szukalski Museum in Gdynia Honored with the Pomeranian Museum Award 2026!
We are delighted to announce that the Stanisław Szukalski Museum in Gdynia has been honored with a distinction in the 12th edition of the Pomeranian Museum Award. This is a truly special achievement and an important milestone in the history of our institution.
The Pomeranian Museum Award is one of the most prestigious distinctions granted to museums and museum professionals in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The competition is organized under the auspices of the Pomeranian Branch of the Polish Museum Professionals Association, with the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship serving as its patron and founder.
The award aims to recognize the most innovative and valuable museum initiatives carried out across the region, including exhibitions, educational projects, research activities, and publications. This year’s edition attracted an impressive 44 submissions from 19 museum institutions throughout Pomerania, highlighting the vitality and diversity of the region’s cultural landscape.
The competition jury awarded three main prizes and three distinctions. We are proud to announce that our museum was among the distinguished recipients. Since its opening, the Stanisław Szukalski Museum has consistently pursued its mission of promoting the life and work of Stanisław Szukalski—one of the most original and distinctive artists of the twentieth century.
This distinction is a confirmation that we are on the right path. It serves as a source of inspiration and motivation, while also standing as a meaningful tribute to Stanisław Szukalski—an outstanding master whose art has found its home in Gdynia.
At the same time, we would like to emphasize that our work extends far beyond the permanent exhibition. We are constantly developing the museum’s program and preparing new events and exhibitions.
