About
Stanisław Szukalski (1893–1987) was once a prominent Polish sculptor, painter, and graphic artist, known for his original and highly distinctive style. Born in Poland, he received his artistic education in both Kraków and the United States. He was the founder of the artistic movement „Szczep Rogate Serce” (The Horned Heart Tribe), which combined elements of ancient Slavic culture and mythology with a modern approach to art. His works were characterized by dynamic forms and symbolic meaning. Szukalski regained popularity in later years thanks to the documentary film Struggle: The Life and Lost Art of Szukalski produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Drawings
Szukalski’s drawings were characterized by precision and detail. The artist created both realistic, although highly stylized, portraits and more abstract compositions, dominated by motifs inspired by ancient mythology and cultures. His sketches were often highly complex, filled with intricate details, showcasing a deep knowledge of anatomy as well as artistic imagination.
